Venetian
Plaster:
Our Venetian plaster is a synthetic neutral material which can be tinted
to virtually any colour of your choice. The plaster itself contains
granules of Italian marble dust, which when polished develop a beautiful
shine which gives the appearance of a marbleized surface. The Venetian
plaster may also be left as a matte finish, and may be smooth or rough,
depending on personal taste.
The finish itself is about one eighth of an inch thick, but is like
having a thin layer of stone on your wall. The material itself is very
durable, and offers greater protection of the wall surface because it
is much harder than regular drywall. Although it is not necessary, it
is recommended that every surface be protected further with a wax-based
top coat; especially in high-traffic areas such as kitchens or hallways.
The Venetian plaster surface is washable when top coated.
For commercial projects Aromi FX offers lime-based Venetian plaster
known as Marmorino. Marmorino can be achieved as a smooth, polished
surface which truly shows depth of colour, or may be left as a rough,
non-polished surface. Marmorino is skillfully applied with a trowel
in order to achieve tone variations within the same colour, randomly
on the wall.
A Venetian Plaster finish can range in sheen and texture from a smooth,
highly polished, marble-like finish to a distressed, stone-like, Tuscan
appearance with multiple color washes to get the desired effect and
color combination.
